Upcoming Concerts @ Penn Treaty Park

The War on Drugs, performing on August 5th / Photo by Brad Love

So much of the charm associated with the Northeastern tip of Philadelphia—No Libs, Fishtown—has to do with the people who live there and an unabashed love of summer. While the neighborhoods to our north are quiet most of the year, offering cute beer specials and bar nights like everyone else, when summer hits… expect cook-outs. Expect neighborhood clean-ups. Expect outdoor festivals like the Kinetic Sculpture Derby and expect more summer fun than you can handle. One of the more memorable Fishtown traditions has become the Concerts in Penn Treaty Park.

Unarguably one of the most beautiful places in our fair city, Penn Treaty Park hosts local acts from a wide range of musical styles. As you would expect, a simple affair with blankets and picnic baskets and music. Hosted by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) and organized by NKCDC in collaboration with the Fishtown Neighbors Association (FNA), the Friends of Penn Treaty Park and the Fishtown Star, the tentative line-up for this one goes like this.

July 15th: Charanga with (TBD)
July 22nd: John Clark Little Big Band
July 29th: Jack Rose and The Black Twig Pickers
August 5th: War On Drugs with (TBD)
August 12th: Third Degree and Porkroll Project
August 19th: The Espers with The Oubliette Ensemble

So come on out and see Fishtown do what they do best this summer. And enjoy some good music too. For the latest information about the concert series please go to Penn Treaty Music’s official website, for volunteer opportunities please contact Laura Semmelroth at lsemmelroth[at]nkcdc.org.

Toddly Man says:

Expect outdoor festivals like… THE LAWN CHAIR DRIVE-IN, for the past 14 years, no less!

A 10 week season, every summer, in Liberty Lands Park. Always free.
