Juju Salon & Organics in Queen Village

Well before you could buy organic everything — from toothpaste to dog food — Juju Salon and Organics was promoting an organic lifestyle by using only natural products made without synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or growth hormones. Five years later, the salon is still thriving, now in a bigger space across the street from its original Queen Village digs.
Candles, wicker and wood furnishings, and hot tea in the waiting area give the salon the feeling of a spa. But don’t equate the earth-mother vibe with diaphanous Legends-of-the-Fall hairstyles (unless that’s what you want). Juju’s stylists –all well-coifed (of course), friendly women, many of whom have been at the salon for years — whip out chunky, trendy, precise cuts and use all-natural hair color to create colors not found in nature.
Juju peddles the same organic goods that it uses in the salon: John Masters Organics, Sevi, and other up-and-coming organic lines. If you want even more, you can head over to Juju’s spa across the street, which follows the same principles in its massages, facials, and body treatments.
