Video: McNeil Avian Center @ the Philadelphia Zoo

Back in June, I visited the Philadelphia Zoo’s spectacular new exhibit, the McNeil Avian Center. With a beautiful walk-through space where birds flutter around you and live free-flight bird shows outside, it is a wonderful new addition to the Zoo, and one of my favorite new attractions in the city.

I recently sent our video blogger, Stephen Metzger, to the Avian Center to capture some of the birds in flight. Check it out, watch some exotic birds nibble his camera stand, and be sure to see it in person.

It was very very good, gave you the feel and sense of the bird/human interaction in the center. Wonderful place to visit.

Thanks for posting this. I look forward to seeing this newly remodeled birdhouse for myself. It appears to be one of the nation’s very best exhibits of birds.

Thanks a lot, Jerry. The rain forest section is amazing; I only wish there were a way to show that the bright green Toucanette (that was poking towards the camera in the video) actually landed on top of my camera multiple times and required some serious coaxing to go elsewhere.
