Sunday: Biketoberfest @ Dock Street Brewery

I have a t-shirt at home that says “I [picture of a bike] PHL.†I got it as a gift and I wear it because… well, it looks cool. What I didn’t know, at least until this moment, was that it is the logo for the “I Bike Philly†pledge, promising to bike safely by wearing a helmet, respecting pedestrians, lights and the rules of the road. Looks like I shouldn’t wear the tee so frivolously anymore.
This pledge was put together by the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, and they do some other pretty cool things for all you cyclists. Besides promoting biking as a healthy, cheap, and environmentally-friendly form of transportation, the BCGP throws together events from time to time. The next fundraising event will take place this Sunday, October 18th. Biketoberfest! The fest sounds like a pretty cool mix of all things you want to celebrate in October – bikes, beer, bratwurst, and other German fare. You know, cause of Oktoberfest.
Join the fun at Dock Street Brewery where 8 bucks provides entrance for a day of live bands, special Biketoberfest brew and food by the Brewery, raffle prizes, and of course, complimentary bike valet.
There are only two stipulations: you have to be over 21, and you have to know what a bike is. Done and done.
