Philadelphia Film Festival: October 15th through 19th

Philadelphia welcomes five days of “world class cinema” with the 18 1/2 Philadelphia Film Festival, which opens October 15th. The festival boasts an impressive lineup of films, many of which have appeared in Cannes, Sundance, Berlin, Toronto and other huge international festivals.

Among the notable flicks is the filmed-in-Philadelphia, Law Abiding Citizen (starring Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler), which will open the festival on Thursday, October 15th at Prince Music Theater. Closing the festival will be Precious, directed by Philly native Lee Daniels and executive-produced by Oprah Winfrey.
Several other films will make their world-debut this weekend, and actor Ben Foster will be honored for his acclaimed performance in The Messenger. With all the excitement buzzing around the festival, you should definitely purchase your tickets and badges as soon as possible.
