Today kicks off the Olympia Tattoo Festival at the Independence Seaport Museum. Running tonight through Sunday, the festival gives attendees the chance to get tattooed on board the historic 1892 warship by any of 40 tattooists on board. Each artist is skilled in American Traditional tattoos, the style favored by 20th century sailors.
Not into getting inked? That’s fine. Join in the festival on board the Seaport’s Balcony Terrace, and browse memorabilia and clothing, enter contests and raffles, and check out an art show. And don’t forget to check out the Skin & Bones: Life of the American Sailor exhibit while you’re there.
Tickets are $20 a day, $40 for the entire weekend. For more information, visit the Independence Seaport Museum’s official website.
