Saturday: Beer, Food, & Music @ Bloktoberfest

This Saturday, October 24th, Bloktoberfest hits the 2000 block of Christian Street. Kicking off at noon and running til 8PM, the festival promises a showcase of seasonal beers from around the country, food from local vendors, and live performances from both local and national artists.
Breweries in attendance include Left Hand (Longmont, CO), Flying Dog (Frederick, MD), Bell’s (Galesburg, MI), Blue Point (Long Island, NY), and our beloved neighbors, Stoudt’s (Adamstown, PA), Lancaster (Lancaster, PA), and Sly Fox (Phoenixville, PA). Each brewery will have two different beers on tap, and the entire beer menu is curated by Adam Ritter of Sidecar Bar & Grille. As for the food, it will be supplied by… Philly food trucks! Soul food, tacos, curry, vegan choices, cheesesteaks, and more. Yum!
There’s even a pre-fest flea market going on, at the Julian Abele Park, from 9AM to 1PM. All proceeds from vendor spaces go towards park maintenance and improvements. Update: The Flea Market has been postponed until October 31st, due to weather. Bloktoberfest is still on, rain or shine.
Admission to the festival is free, however if you plan on beer-ing it up, it’ll cost you $10, which scores you a drinking bracelet and three beer tickets, good for one beer a piece. Additional beer tickets are just $3. Not bad! Proceeds from beer sales go towards restoring the historic Shiloh Baptist Church. Be sure to walk inside for a guided tour to learn more about the building, as well as an art show where local artists will be selling their crafts.

BLOKTOBERFEST is on, no matter the weather! We’ll have two dozen tents set up all over the block, and the stage has a roof! Rain dates are for SISSIES! Staying inside makes you soft and weak; BEER MAKES YOU STRONG!
