Thursday: Robert Peck Discusses Townsend @ Academy of Natural Sciences

Academy of Natural Sciences
With the Townsend display opening later this month, you might as well get up-to-speed on this great 19th-century explorer before scoping out his artifacts.
Tomorrow, the Academy of Natural Sciences is hosting a free, open-to-the-public talk about him and his life, in a lecture entitled An Excursion to the Rocky Mountains: The Life and Travels of John Kirk Townsend. Robert Peck, a fellow of the Academy, will give an illustrated presentation on Townsend’s life, explaining how he helped shape American science and history with his trip across North American in 1834.
Oh, and this history trip? It was actually made on behalf of the Academy of Natural Sciences way back when. Neat!
The chat goes down tomorrow, Thursday, October 15th, at 5:30PM. To reserve a seat, call or email the Academy.
