BalletX is one of Philly’s most exciting dance companies. Their goal is to redefine ballet and bring it into the 21st century, and their powerful take on modern dance does just that. I saw my first BalletX performance at the beginning of the summer and was blown away by the emotion, passion, and unbelievable athleticism of the dancers. I’m totally psyched for their upcoming Fall Series, which runs from November 19th – 22nd at the Wilma Theatre.

The Fall Series will feature the world premiers of three new dances. Two are by guest choreographers, Alex Ketley and Meredith Rainey, and one will be choreographed by Matthew Neenan, one of the company’s artistic directors. All, of course, will feature the company’s fabulous dancers. I don’t know much more detail about the pieces, but don’t let that stop you from getting yourself to the Wilma. Based on past performances and the company’s reputation, the show is sure to take your breath away and make you wonder why you gave up ballet at age 7.
