When it comes to author events and opportunities to hear writers read their own work, we in Philadelphia area are pretty darn fortunate. Many a book tour includes a stop at the Central Branch of the Free Library and there are a number of terrific authors coming soon.

In just the next couple of weeks, you’ll find David Wroblewski and Uwem Akpan (Tuesday, November 17th), George Packer (Thursday, November 19th), Ken Burns (Monday, November 23rd) and Adam Gopnik (Tuesday, November 24th) all reading from their most recent works. Future authors include Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman, murder mystery scribe Sue Grafton and Mary Karr (author of The Liar’s Club - a favorite of mine).

Make sure to check the Free Library’s event page frequently to stay up-to-date with all the author events that they host. Some events are free, while others are ticketed, so make sure to check which is which prior to heading to the Central Library for an event.
