Spotlight: Winter Tasting Menu at Rouge

Rittenhouse Square’s Rouge is known for their spring and summertime sidewalk dining, fanciful cocktails and their fabulous, juicy hamburger. However, there’s no reason to avoid this cozy park side spot once the weather starts turning chilly, as the central round bar and warm dining room have much to offer all year round.

Right now, Rouge is hoping to entice diners to pay them a visit with their new Winter Tasting Menu, which pulls in the best seasonal produce currently available and pairs it with choice bits of expertly cooked proteins. The five course menu (there’s also an additional bonus round of cheese at the end of the meal) is well-paced and generous, making it an excellent meal for the end of a long day of holiday shopping.

The meal starts with a serving of fontina macaroni and cheese (adorably plated in a coffee cup) and then moves through dishes of a scallops (on top of a potato risotto), King salmon (perched above a medley of braised root veggies), tuna (perfectly seared and so, so light) and a piece of tender beef brisket with a squash puree.

The tasting menu costs $55 per person and is offered during dinner service, Tuesday through Saturday. Wine lovers can also opt to add pairings for an additional $30.
