This weekend, join the Design Center and the Liberty Lacers for The Art of Lace Making, a weekend-long lace making class featuring Holly Van Sciver. Sciver, a master lace-maker and instructor for over 35 years, has given demonstrations and lectures through out the country.

This special, one-weekend event is being run in conjunction with the Design Center’s current exhibition, Lace in Translation. For those of you who have yet to check out the exhibit, our friends at Philebrity took a tour back in September, and have a gorgeous collection of photos on their blog. Take a look.

The event takes place the Kanbar Student Center Performance Space at Philadelphia University, directly across the street from The Design Center.

The Design Center is a great place. Somehow, despite their high profile exhibits and outstanding events, they manage to keep the Center totally free and open to the public, requesting only donations. They’re open Monday through Friday, 10AM to 4PM, and on Saturdays from 11AM to 4pm. Go visit and stay awhile.
