Nest & Branch: a New Exhibit @ the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education

Digital Print by Matthew Derezinski
This Saturday, the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education opens their latest art exhibit, a gallery of artwork relating to birds and their natural habitats. The works in the exhibit range from prints, to digital media, to full installation pieces, all with the purpose of drawing attention to the natural world. The Schuylkill Center manages to do that pretty well on their own, after-all, the Center is situated on over 300 acres of woodlands, and supports over 100 species of animals, including 50 kinds of birds.
Artists include Linda Byrne, Valerie Carrigan, Kelly Franklin, Kirsten Furlong, Mara Adamitz Scrupe, Marisha Simons, Elysa Voshell, Michelle Wilson, and Mattrew Derezinski, whose digital print we’ve featured above. Their pieces present themes of migration, flocking, and nesting, hence the name of the exhibit.
There’s also an opening reception scheduled on Saturday, from 5PM to 7PM, with a special artists’ talk at 6PM.
Next & Branch will be on display at the Center from December 5th 2009 through April 3rd, 2010.
