The Year of the Tiger: Lunar Near Year Festival @ the Independence Seaport Museum

If you missed the Chinese New Year celebration at the Penn Museum two weeks ago, don’t worry! The Independence Seaport Museum is offering up another chance to ring in the Year of the Tiger.
This Saturday, February 6th, visitors can welcome the Year of the Tiger with hands-on activities, crafts, and musical, dance, and martial arts performances.
The Museum’s two floors will be transformed into a learning center for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese culture. Craft a traditional Korean kite, a Vietnamese dragon puppet, learn about the Chinese Zodiac, or make a Japanese Lucky Cat. There are plenty of activities to keep you and the family busy.
Groups can also learn the basics of Tai Chi, take origami lessons, and try their hand at calligraphy. The whole festival and all of the activities are free with museum admission. The festival starts at noon and runs until 4pm.
For more information about the Seaport Museum, visit their official website. Happy Year of the Tiger!
