The Groovaloos, founded in 1999 by Bradley “Shooz” Rapier, gained traction (get it?) in the dance world with a first place win at The American Street Dance Championships. Since then the group has enriched their collective resume with impressive work, from appearances on NBC’s “Superstars of Dance”, FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” to film credits like Step Up 2.

Groovaloo’s Philadelphia debut takes place March 9th – 14th at the Merriam Theater. The show is based on the troupe’s true life experiences, melding eye-popping physical displays, heart-pounding music, powerful spoken word poetry and resonant narratives that chronicle the struggles and victories of the 14-member cast. In their words, “Groovaloo celebrates the passion and purpose of life while revealing the heart, soul and artistry of freestyle dance.” We dig.

Critics have called it “breath-taking,” “infectiously exciting”, “relentlessly creative and dynamic”. Why are you still reading this? Go buy tickets.
