As part of the recently announced “Phanatic Around Town” public art project, we received our very own special edition Phillie Phanatic statue, and we’re holding a contest for you to help us name him!

We want you to help us name him by submitting as many name suggestions as you want through March 12, 2010, at visitphilly.com/phanatic.

After March 12th, there will be a period of online voting for five finalist name submissions, and we’ll announce the winning name later this month.

If your statue name submission is ultimately chosen as the winner, you’ll receive the grand prize, which includes overnight accommodations at a Philadelphia hotel and a special baseball-themed gift.

CLICK HERE to submit your suggestions, and remember, the funnier/more creative/more unique the name, the better your chance of winning!

George Miller says:

I cannot wait to see where the City Hall statue is. Being that no one at City Hall knows of it’s whereabouts, this should be interesting. I was told at CH that it was across the street but they told me that it was moved. Being that no one at the Greater Phil. Tourism Marketing Corp. ever answers their e-mail I guess I will have to wait. I spent one day walking in Philly in an attempt to get photos of the 18 statues that are accessible to the public. (I think you did the public dirty by having a statue inside the ball park and beyond the security check point at the airport.). I got 17 but still no CH statue despite the fact that I have returned twice with no luck.
