Sunday: Rediscovering Colonial Gardens @ the Morris Arboretum

The Arboretum in full bloom, B. Krist for GPTMC
This Sunday, the Morris Arboretum concludes their Winter Lecture series, with a visit from Professor W. Barksdale Maynard.
The lecture, entitled Rediscovering Colonial Gardens, discusses Maynard’s research into America’s earliest gardens at Williamsburg, Monticello, Mount Vernon, and our very own Bartram’s Garden.
The talk is free with regular Arboretum admission, with light refreshments after the talk. For more information on the Arboretum’s lecture series, visit their official website.

Mel Jenkins says:
Here in Columbia, SC, we are working to bring together people and information to encourage interest in 18th century resident gardens, primarily of the “middle-class” townsperson. I look forward to, at sometime, visiting the Morris Arboretum and other gardening areas of Philadelphia, as well as learning more of the presentations, published and otherwise of Professor Maynard. Congratulations on such presentations. Let’s hope the information can be widely shared.
