Print Aweigh, Take Away Weekend @ the American Philosophical Society Museum

American Philosophical Society Museum

This weekend, the American Philosophical Society wants you to stop by for two days of hands-on science and art.

Joining forces with a number of great local institutions, including the Independence Seaport Museum and the Printing Office & Bindery at Franklin Court, the APS will be giving lessons and lectures in printmaking all weekend long.

Artist Martin Campos will guide visitors through print making and stenciling, while renowned book artist Rosea Reader will give bookmaking lessons. Kids can have fun as well, exploring the museum while treasure hunting for hidden fossils.

Once you’re finished at the APS, stroll over to The Independence Seaport Museum. They are welcoming Cannonball Press artists, who will crank out shipboard leaflets using an original 1895 letterpress. All these events are free, and thrown in conjunction with Philagrafika.

All the activities happen between 10am and 5pm, on the 10th and 11th. For more information on the museum and events, visit their official website. Happy printing!
