Dining @ Avalon in West Chester

The Special Salad w/ Fruit & Veggies
Exceptional service. A gorgeous patio complete with a rustic fountain. Spacious, romantically lit indoor seating. Finely presented plates that hold the even more finely executed food… in my book, Avalon earns five stars.
The potato gnocchi might be the best gnocchi dish I’ve had, made with spring peas and tarragon brown butter. You can tell the pasta is made in house, with its perfectly pillowy texture and so-creamy filling. The agnolotti is equally delicious, with onion, Gruyere, escargot and garlic butter for a French twist on an Italian dish.

Grilled Vegetable Platter w/ Balsamic Argodulce Sauce
The grilled vegetable platter with balsamic agrodulce sauce is the perfect wedding of sweet and sour. The special salad, if available, is a must, with sweet fruit dressing, curlicued vegetables, and peach slices just tangy enough to prep your palate for a heavy meal to come.
Second courses include the expertly seasoned cioppino, a luscious bowl of steamy tomato broth with fresh seafood, and the braised beef shortribs. The cheeses and salamis are prepared and plated in the center of the restaurant. Ask for pairing suggestions since each waiter is so impressively attuned to the food they are serving.

Molten-center chocolate cake @ Aavalon
For dessert, the molten-center chocolate cake will pop a button open but, hey, it’s worth it. It’s a rare dining experience that leaves you with nothing to criticize, and everything to recommend to everyone you know.
If you’re from the city, the 45-minute drive may seem like a trek- but you won’t regret it.
