Every year, InLiquid hosts Art for the Cash Poor, an event that showcases a number of fantastic artists from around the region. These artists meet their admirers and sell their work at an affordable price. For all you amateur art-collectors out there, everything at Art for the Cash Poor is priced at $199 or less, with most items priced well under $100.
Art for the Cash Poor takes place June 12th and 13th, rain or shine, at the Crane Arts Building. I’ve been highlighting one artist every week leading up to the arts-filled weekend, because seriously, you should be getting excited. Our last pick is Amy Orr, a West-Philadelphia based artist known for her intricate credit card mosaics of maps, portraits and patterned surfaces. You can actually see two of her pieces, World Map and Made in China, on display in City Hall’s Art Gallery.
For Art for the Cash Poor, Amy will be selling her new line of credit card jewelry, appropriately titled CreditLine. According to Orr, each credit card “has a story. The colors and metallic surfaces are amazing. They are easy to come by and hard to dispose of.”
Along with credit card brooches, earrings, and barrettes, she’ll be selling signed prints of her mosaics. Prices will range from $35 to $65. For more information on Orr and her work, visit her profile on InLiquid.
