Bloomsday @ the Rosenbach: Celebrate James Joyces’ Ulysses

Blooomsday @ the Rosenbach Museum & Library
Ah, Bloomsday. That magical day of the year when crowds of people gather outside the Rosenbach Museum and Library to celebrate James Joyce’s classic novel, Ulysses. Now in its 18th year, the annual celebration takes over the little strip of 20th and Delancey next Wednesday, June 16th.
Guest readers this year include Nobel Prize winner Baruch Samuel Blumberg, Philadelphia Inquirer food writer Rick Nichols, authors Steve Poses, Ken Kalfus (A Disorder Peculiar to the Country), and Declan Kiberd, and many, many more. Over 70 lovers of literature will be reading selections from Joyce’s masterpiece. The full list of 2010 Bloomsday readers will be available on the Rosenbach’s official website soon.
Along with the annual celebration, make sure you check out the other events and new exhibits. A Taste For Ulysses, which opened on June 2nd and runs until June 22nd, explores the importance of food in Joyce’s novel. The museum is also running a Ulysses crash-course, Bloomsday 101, on Monday, June 14th at Fergie’s Pub.
The open air festival is free and open to the public. Come celebrate!
