Experience Beer Week @ City Tap House

Beer Flight @ City Tap House

There are so many awesome Philly Beer Week events that it’s tough to decide which ones to go to. The bars you already know and love aren’t going anywhere, so why not try out something new? Since it just opened last month, chances are you haven’t been to City Tap House yet. And trust me, you want to. The gigantic University City gastropub has a whopping 60 beers on tap as well as fabulous food that’s way better than what you’ll find in regular bars.

There’s a huge firepit-studded terrace to enjoy this week’s lovely weather, as well as tons of space inside if thunderstorms happen to strike. The food itself is worth a visit, as are the innumerable hard-to-find craft brews. Of course, since it’s Beer Week they’re hosting a bunch of great events (check out their full calendar here). The ones I’m most looking forward to are tonight’s “Bell’s 31 Flavors” and Saturday night’s “Sly Fox O’Reilly’s Stout and S’mores.”

For the “31 Flavors” event the superb Bell’s Brewing will be taking over the bar’s taps and setting a world record for the most Bell’s beers tapped at one time. The list will include favorites like Bell’s Oberon and Bell’s Double Cream Stout, as well as ones you’ve probably never tried. How about Bell’s Raspberry Ale, or Bell’s Bourbon Barrel Hell?

Then, as Beer Week draws to a close, Saturday night’s s’mores event is just what it sounds like – fresh gooey firepit-singed s’mores deliciously paired with Sly Fox’s O’Reilly Stout. A sweet way to end a great week!
