The Night Market is Coming to Philly This Fall

The Food Trust, the organization that is responsible for so many of our favorite local farmers’ markets will be launching a new market this September. Call the Night Market, it will be held in the evening and will feature some of the areas best prepared foods, as well as crafts and lots of music. There will be six markets over the next 18 months. The locations will change for each market. The concept was inspired by the vibrant markets found throughout Asia.

The details are still to come, but if this sounds like something that you’d be interesting in checking out, sign up to get on their mailing list to keep abreast of the information.

The Funsavers Half Price Packages Are Back

Last summer, the Funsavers blew our minds by offering half price season tickets to a number of area theaters. Well, it worked so well last year that they’ve expanded the offer and are doing it again.

They’re selling season tickets to more than 20 area theater, dance and music companies for half price. That means that you can get tickets to the four-show season at the Interact Theater Company for just $64. An even $100 will get you into five Arden shows. The Walnut Street Theater season is the most expensive, ranging from $135 to $175 for five shows, but that package includes musicals by both Irving Berlin and Kander & Ebb. Even at that price, it’s still a bargain!

Click here to check out the list of participating theaters. The deals are good through Friday, September 3rd. But don’t wait, they will sell out. Get ‘em while they last!

Meet Your Cheesemaker Happy Hour Next Wednesday

Spread from the May Cheesemaker Happy Hour (photo by M. McClellan for GPTMC)

We’ve dished about the Meet the Cheesemaker happy hours at the Fair Food Farmstand before. The concept is simple. They invite some of the best cheesemakers from around the region, and we all stand around, eating cheese, sampling beer and talking about how it was all made.

This Wednesday, August 25th from 4-6 p.m., Cherry Grove Farm’s cheesemaker Ian will be joined by the folks from Flying Fish. Ian will be sampling out Maidenhead, a rich, dense and fruity cheese washed with Flying Fish Abbey. Complementary samples of Abbey will be on hand as well.
