As an urban gardener now for several years I was unaware of contest or deadline.Missed signing up,membership deadline (6-10) wondering if I may still contribute any photos of our immensely popular container GARDEN OF EDEN. I have so much to share and really want to be part of PHS.Can I send a CD of my photos, or bring to 9-11 Naval Yard Event? For I sincerely feel that you would be overwhelmed with my from seed container garden in Center City my concrete jungle has been tamed and reinvented the tropical cottage style back yard. Many on line breeders wanted my photos and are using them as part of their photo gallery sites. But I a true blue green thumb Philadelphia n who wants to share and contribute to my region. Please let me know how or where or who I should contact to be part of your great organization.
Thank you very much in advance for reading my message I sincerely look forward to being amongst other gardening enthusiast. I am full of interesting new techniques as well as century old tips handed down from generation to generation. All of which I am freely willing to share and or exchange with your seasoned gardening specialist.
Thank you again,
Most Respectfully Yours;

Dear Suzette,
Forgive the delay in responding to your email as it was forwarded to me from our PR Department. I coordinate PHS’ City Gardens Contest which is celebrating its 35th year in 2010. It sounds like your garden is spectacular and I would encourge you to enter this gardening competition next year. You can do so online by visiting our website.
http://www.pennsylvaniahorticulturalsociety.org/events/city_contest.html Judging takes place in July and if your garden scores high enough, you will qaulify for a final round of judging in August. Close to 300 gardens are entered in the contest each year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by email at fnarducci@pennhort.org or by phone at 215-988-8897. I look forward to your participation.

Dear Flossie,
Please accept my sincerest apology for delayed response to this posting, literally just found it. I did sign up for membership right after your advice and now have been a member for 2 years now almost. Volunteered for many community projects this year, and am currently in the midst of donating my 30 year old MILK BUSH PENCIL TREE to the Horticultural Center in Fairmount Park. Have met with Mike the director and developed a marvelous relationship with Ann, there. She is a gem in and of herself there at the center. I am currently signed up to volunteer for the FLOWER SHOW and look forward to many more exciting years.
