Hillary Bor and Ian Moroney are two of Philadelphia’s biggest local food supporters. With Pumpkin Market, Cafe and Restaurant, they’ve created a mini-locavore empire on South Street, between 16th and 18th Streets. October is a big month for both pumpkins and Pumpkin, and so they’ve organized a number of community events in celebration.

On Saturday, October 9th, swing by the Market, Cafe or Restaurant between 12 noon and 2 p.m. to celebrate local apples! Wednesday, October 13th is their monthly five-course dinner at the Restaurant (6-10 p.m., $50). Saturday, October 16th is pear day (12 noon to 2 p.m.) at all three locations. Thursday, October 21st is Joe the coffee guy’s day to shine. Watch him roast the beans and then sample some coffee from 7-8 p.m. at the Market.

Saturday, October 23rd is pumpkin day. They’ll be sampling items made from pumpkin from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at all three locations. Sign up to take a cooking class with Chef Ian on Monday, October 25th (6:30-8:30 p.m., $40) at the Restaurant (call 215-545-4448 to register). Saturday, October 30th is cranberry day at all three locations (12 noon to 2 p.m.).

And of course, don’t miss Sundays at the Cafe (4:30-8:30 p.m.), where a family of four can eat a Farm to Table meal for just $50. If finer dining is more your style, they also offer a five-course tasting menu at the Restaurant on Sundays, from 5:30-10 p.m. that’s just $35 per person. These meals are offered every single week.
