What makes someone a “real American?” You have three chances to find out at this year’s First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art presented by First Person Arts. After a nine-month sold-out run in San Francisco, the hit one-man show The Real Americans makes its East coast premiere at the Painted Bride Art Center Thursday, November 11 through Saturday, November 13.
Dan Hoyle hit the road before the 2008 election to discover what the “real Americans” fuss was all about. He traversed the U.S. for three months in his van and met some unlikely characters, including anti-war gun salesmen and union coal miners with a love for Ronald Reagan.
Hoyle, described by The New York Times as “a first-rate reporter and actor,” recreates these individuals on stage with a style that has been compared to Anna Deavere Smith and John Leguizamo.
Don’t miss your chance to “get real” with Dan Hoyle next week! This is going to be a great show. Click here to check out a trailer of The Real Americans. You can buy your tickets online, by phone at 267-402-2055, or at the box office the night of the show.
