The Khyber is Reborn as the Khyber Pass Pub

For as long as I’ve lived in Philadelphia, the Khyber has been THE bar to go to in Old City when you didn’t actually want to feel like you were in Old City. It’s been a great place to grab a beer and catch a show from a new band for as long as most of us can remember. So when rumors started flying that it was being sold or closing, there were distressed feelings from all corners of the city.
Happily, we’ve recently learned that the Khyber isn’t going anywhere, it’s just growing up a little bit. Now called the Khyber Pass Pub, it will feature a swanky twenty-tap beer system, as well as whole new menu featuring Southern favorites like fried chicken, po-boys, gumbos, and smoked briskets and pork butts. The classic bar food staples like burgers, fries, wings and chili will also remain.
They’re offering the new menu and the all those luscious beers starting today. There’s a grand opening celebration scheduled for Thursday, November 18th. The Khyber Pass Pub kitchen is open daily from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m. (the entire menu is available during those hours, making it a great place for an end-of-evening nosh). The bar itself is open until 2 a.m.
