Jake’s Sandwich Board’s 5-Pound Philly Challenge To Be Featured On Food Network’s Outrageous Food

Jake’s Sandwich Board, home to the 5-Pound Philly Challenge, will be spotlighted on the Food Network’s Outrageous Food hosted by area native and recent Next Food Network Star finalist Tom Pizzica.
The show’s mission is to find over-the-top eats from around the country: at Jake’s, mission accomplished. The Challenge pits customers against five pounds of “all things Philly” edibles; if they finish in 45 minutes, their bill is comped, otherwise the total comes to $34.95.
On the menu? A two-foot steak, brisket or pork sandwich weighing about 3 pounds, four soft-pretzels, twelve TastyKakes, two dozen Peanut Chews, and a Champ Cherry Soda to wash it all down.
Jake’s will be closed this Thursday for filming. The show airs Fridays at 10 p.m.; no word yet on the exact air date of this episode.
