New social media campaign #whyilovephilly provides a live, online space for people to express their love for Philadelphia.

On February 17, 6:30-9:30 p.m., a launch event will be held at National Mechanics to celebrate the campaign, complete with drink specials and a screen displaying live comments from attendees via a mobile application.

Throughout the ongoing campaign, current city residents and expats will be encouraged to declare to the world why they love our great city by using Twitter and Facebook to list reasons along with the hashtag #whyilovephilly.

Check the campaign website for a feed of all tweets that use the hashtag #whyilovephilly, and news about any associated polls, contests and parties.

Goals of the #whyilovephilly campaign (a.k.a reasons why we’re obsessed with it) include “creating an air of positivity, passion and pride for the city”; providing a space where people from around the country and world can witness tremendous Philadelphia city pride; and to connect with fellow Philadelphians.
