Karneval is considered the German version of Mardi Gras, and Brauhaus Schmitz is celebrating all weekend long. (Photo courtesy Brauhaus Schmitz)
The Karneval is one of the most celebrated events in Germany, and Brauhaus Schmitz, one of Philadelphia’s only authentic German restaurants, is feting their second annual Karneval celebration this weekend.
Now through March 8, they’ll be serving traditional Kölsch food and beer specials. Brauhaus Schmitz features a selection of 20 draught beers as well as a carefully selected bottle list, with nearly 100 to choose from; so don’t worry about slim pickings.
You can also fill out a raffle ticket for your chance to win the grand prize: a Single draft Kegerator, complete with a Kranz, plenty of Kölsch glasses, a tap handle and your very own Keg of Gaffel Kölsch. Costumes are encouraged.
The restaurant is open 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day.
