Penn Museum celebrates the final days of its landmark exhibition from China, Secrets of the Silk Road, with a fun-filled PECO World Culture Day, Saturday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event, titled Along the Silk Road, will bring the Silk Road to life with music and dance performances, a Chinese and Indian tea tasting, craft workshops, lectures by acclaimed writers and scholars, children’s activities and a self-guided exhibition tour.
Visitors can experience aspects of modern-day cultures, as well: receive a henna tattoo, wrap a silk sari, blend spices to create a curry powder, write in Arabic or learn Chinese calligraphy characters.
Note: today, March 15, is the last day to view the exhibit’s two headlining mummies, but the wealth of other original artifacts will be on display through the exhibit’s close, March 28.
