The Fourth Annual Philly Spring Cleanup Is April 2: Help Clean Up Neighborhood Blocks, Distribute Recycling Bins And More

Show Philadelphia some love by participating in the 4th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup, April 2 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Sponsored by the Philadelphia Streets Department, the campaign works through education, enforcement and events to keep Philadelphia litter-free.

This year’s slogan “Keep Up the Sweep Up!” is a rally cry “to put an end to litter and illegal dumping – permanently.”

At last year’s Cleanup, an astounding 11,313 volunteers moved 1,340,220 pounds of trash off of the streets of Philadelphia. The 2008 Philly Spring Cleanup also set the record for the largest one-day Cleanup in the history of America.

Volunteers can sign up for a project site online, searchable by neighborhood. If you know of a site that could use some TLC, the Philly Spring Cleanup is accepting project proposals until March 18. Applications are also available online.

With tons of green initiatives in the works (click here for all our coverage on sustainable efforts in Philadelphia) and a cleanup on the way, we love how Philadelphia is getting more beautiful by the day.
