Kicking off the outdoor dining season in style, Le Virtu on East Passyunk officially opens its alfresco dining area Campo on May 5 with an all-inclusive launch party.

For $45, guests will be treated to a whole roasted suckling pig, an artisanal wine tasting, and a beer tasting of locally brewed craft beers complete with a commemorative beer goblet.

In addition to the roasted pig, revelers can feast on Abruzzese specialties, including lamb, shrimp and calamari skewers, house-made sausage, marinated flank steak, and roasted pork finger sandwiches. Vegetarians, you’re covered: there will be grilled vegetables and bruschette.

The Campo Launch is the first of a summer-long series of first Thursday patio parties Le Virtu will be hosting. The area will be open for outdoor dining until mid-October.

Even more encouragement to head to Le Virtu: Craig LaBan gave the restaurant a glowing three bell review this weekend, calling it “the real thing” and “South Philadelphia’s best authentic Italian restaurant.” High praise from Mr. LaBan.
