Act II Playhouse in Ambler ends its 2010-2011 season with a bang with Art, the hilarious Tony Award-winning comedy by God of Carnage playwright Yasmina Reza.

What would you do if your best friend bought an insanely expensive painting that was completely white? Would you pretend to like it, or would you point out his colossal error to him? The friendship of three men are tested when Yvan buys a painting with a white background, with a white design. As they hash it out in hilarious fashion, the concept of what counts as art and why we regard it as such is dragged into the conversation.

Philly all-star actors tackle their characters with comedic precision, turning out riotous performances. Director Bud Martin, the producing artistic director at Act II, says “Art is really about male friendship and how over time — as new people, jobs, and experiences come into our lives — those friendships get challenged.”

Catch Art onstage until June 12; tickets are available online. Don’t miss this story about how far friendships are pushed when battle lines are drawn.

ThiS hilarious comedy about a painting and it’s emotional upheaval it causes between 3 male friends is most insightful since it was written by a woman. Bring your friends….much discussion…then see it again!!!
