Coming Attraction: Union Transfer, A New 1,000-Capacity Music Venue Set To Open On Spring Garden Street This September

The Bowery Presents, an independent promotion company based in New York City, Sean Agnew of R5 Productions, and Avram Hornik and Mark Fichera of Four Corners Management (Hornik and Fichera own Drinker’s, Lucy’s Hat Shop and Noche) officially announced yesterday that they are opening an awesome new live music venue in Philadelphia to be called Union Transfer.
Located just steps from Center City at 1004-26 Spring Garden Street in the former Spaghetti Warehouse location, the concept was developed by the all-star group to meet Philadelphia’s need for a mid-sized live music venue. Union Transfer will accommodate 600, and up to 1,000 with the stage pushed back.
Fun fact: Union Transfer is named after the original train depot station that occupied the building.
Another fun fact: the space will have parking, including 150 spots for bike parking!
Show prices range from just $14-$30, another bone the venue is throwing Philadelphia music lovers. The team is also installing a state-of-the-art sound system and concert-quality lighting, and removing the building’s original columns to allow for great sightlines. There will also be a mezzanine level with tiered seating and a large balcony.
Union Transfer is slated to open this fall, on September 21, with headliners Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Opening lineup includes Mogwai (September 28), Shellac (September 29), The Aggrolites (October 7), RJD2 (October 14) and more. The club plans to present 200 shows a year.
Tickets to all shows go on on sale this Saturday, July 16.
