Scribe Video Center presents “Street Movies!”, a summer series of outdoor film screenings and live performances across the city, happening now through August 27.

Held at various venues throughout the city from Clark Park to Mill Creek Playground, the Street Movies! series was inspired by the tradition of outdoor screenings at African film festivals and Philadelphia’s street theater movement of the 60s. The events offer community members an opportunity to gather and enjoy drive-ins without the cars.

The lineup of featured films includes documentary, animated, experimental and youth-produced films that explore significant cultural issues, like the experiences of new immigrants, leading a healthy lifestyle, honoring urban green spaces and advocating for environmental justice.

Programs (all free!) are family-friendly and start at 7:45 p.m. with a live performance by a local band or performer, followed by the movie screening. A full performance schedule is available online.
