The Friends of Race Street Pier are joining forces with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation to host a First Friday party on the pier, October 7, 7-9 p.m.
The new Race Street Connector, a special stretch of Race between 2nd and Columbus Boulevard leading from Old City to the gorgeous Race Street Pier, is set to officially open with a ribbon cutting and lighting ceremony by Mayor Nutter tomorrow night, October 6.
This First Friday event will be the first chance for the public to take full advantage of both amenities, the Connector and the Pier. Visitors can explore the galleries in Old City, take a stroll down Race, explore the newly lit Race Street Connector and head to the pier for food and fun.
The Bike Caffe will provide eats, there will be music by DJ Jack Tripper and the Night Bright Band, plus strolling lighted performers, featuring hula hoops and spinning lights.
The park’s setting under the Ben Franklin Bridge is spectacular at night; extensive lighting including 200 LED Solar Light Blocks is embedded into the paving.
Enjoy a cool fall breeze off the water, amid a gorgeous tree-lined setting, for a doesn’t-get-better-than-this Friday evening in Philadelphia.
