InterAct Theatre Company Presents The How And The Why By HBO’s “In Treatment” Writer Sarah Treem, On Stage Through November 13

InterAct Theatre Company opens its 2011/2012 season with an astounding play by HBO screenwriter Sarah Treem.

The How And The Why, inspired by the best-seller Woman: An Intimate Geography by New York Times writer Natalie Angier, is a tale of evolution, of feminism, of adoption, of mother-daughter relationships, generational clashes and modern America.

As the story goes, on the eve of a prestigious conference, a young evolutionary biologist wrestles for the truth scientific and emotional truth with an established leader in the field. Both women are faced with the challenge of negotiating the male-dominated field of academic science.

Treem’s screenwriting chops are evident, as you feel as though you’re on a TV set, watching an episode being filmed. The talent pours off the stage, the content is thoroughly thought-provoking and you’re left contemplating everything you heard from the production’s start to finish.
