Photo Of The Day: The Sixers Introduce Their New Ownership Group Today With An Announcement At Philadelphia’s Historic Palestra

Today at the University of Penn’s iconic Palestra, the Sixers welcomed their new ownership group, led by Joshua Harris and the newly appointed CEO Adam Aron, an Abington native.

The Palestra was an appropriate venue for today’s event, not only because of its meaning to Philly hoops, but also because Harris and several other members of the ownership group are Penn graduates. And that’s not the only connection the group has to the city; Philly’s own Will Smith is among the list of owners, along with his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Even more good news for Sixers fans: Harris and Aron announced that ticket prices would be reduced by at least 50 percent for 9,000 seats in the Wells Fargo Center and teased that several more announcements were coming over the next week. They also released an open letter to Philadelphia sports fans, highlighting their goals for the team and their three guiding principles as owners, which are:

• Give Philadelphia exciting and winning basketball.
• Make it fun to go to a Sixers game.
• Listen to our fans.

Overall it sounds very encouraging and the second bullet is particularly exciting. Now we just need the pesky lockout to end and the season to begin!
