Reminder: Bloktoberfest Hits South Street This Saturday, October 15 With A Day-Long Celebration Of Craft Beer, Local Food And Live Music

Bloktoberfest, an all-day celebration of beer, food, music and Philly, is returning for its third year this Saturday, October 15 from noon to 8 p.m.

It’s in a new location this year, having moved from Christian Street to South Street (at 15th), and it promises faster lines this year for food and beer.

Below is our guide to everything else you need to know before you get your Bloktoberfest on:

Beer

Beer will be available at several locations across the festival’s three blocks, including two Express Beer Zones designed to minimize waiting lines and ensure that your next beer is never more than a minute or two away. The staff of Bella Vista will be delivering kegs direct from their warehouse at 11th and Fitzwater continuously throughout the day.

There will be four different kinds of pumpkin beer! Specific brews in general include: Wild Onion Pumpkin Ale, Williamsburg AleWerks Coffeehouse Stout, AceCider Perry Cider (gluten free), VoodooBrewery Headless Horseman Pumpkin Ale, BoulderBeerCo Mojo IPA, Central Waters Mud Puppy Porter and Bavarian Barbarian 2×4 IPA.

Food

This year, Bloktoberfest will feature its widest selection yet of incredible Philly eats. Restaurants all along the festival’s three blocks will be selling their delicacies curbside, including Pumpkin BYOB and Market, Jamaican Jerk Hut, Indian Restaurant, Sweet Freedom Bakery, Sawatdee Thai Restaurant and Quick Fixx, in addition to awesome food trucks like the brand new Chewy’s food truck, Dapper Dog, Nomad Pizza, Say Cheese Philadelphia and Sweet Box Cupcakes.

Music

The main stage will be at Jamaican Jerk Hut’s outdoor lot. Bands and DJs will be on hand to entertain the crowds throughout the day and night, as Bloktoberfest moves off the street for an official after-party from 8-11 p.m. You can also enjoy performances at both Tritone and Bob & Barbara’s, featuring local musical talent.

The Walkmen, celebrated indie rock band with Philly members, will be headlining the festival, joined by Cozy Galaxies, Kuf Knotz, Toy Soldiers, Suzie Brown, New Pony, Reckless Amateurs, Paper Monster, Parsnip Revolt, Andy Dalzell, The Doge, Cheers Elephant, The JazzSoul Experience, Strange Engineers, Baffle the Cat and more.

Layout

This year’s event is bigger and beer-ier than ever before, shutting down three blocks of South Street between Broad Street and 17th Street.

1400 block of South Street: The main music stage is located outside Jamaican Jerk Hut between Broad and 15th Streets. Head there for band and DJ entertainment, followed by an after-party starting at 8 p.m.

1500 block of South Street: Tritone and Bob & Barbara’s will be featuring local musical talent during the fest, both located between 15th and 16th Streets.

1600 block of South Street: Bloktoberfest will feature expanded activities for families as part of a Family Zone, including painters, balloon artists and other all-ages entertainment. From noon-3 p.m. kids can make Halloween magnets, fall leaf paper windsocks, foam decorative bookmarks and lollipop ghosts.
