The Philadelphia Orchestra, following a summer of acclaimed performances throughout North America and Europe, returns home with two free community performances, the first of which is at Urban Outfitters Inc. Headquarters at the Philadelphia Navy Yard tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 4, at 6 p.m.

The second is at the RiverStage at Penn’s Landing, Sunday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m.

Both concerts, sponsored by Wells Fargo for the past eight years, are completely free and open to the public.

For tomorrow’s Navy Yard concert, Cristian Macelaru, in his first performance as the Orchestra’s assistant conductor, will lead the ensemble in a program featuring popular favorites, including Rimsky-Korsakov’s lively Capriccio espagnol and Rossini’s iconic Overture to William Tell.

The second neighborhood concert, its fourth on the RiverStage, will feature the first Philadelphia Orchestra performances of works by two composers with local connections: Samuel Barber (Commando March) and Jennifer Higdon (Fanfare Ritmico).

It’s a great opportunity to enjoy a free, live performance from one of the world’s great classical music ensembles.
