New Year’s Eve in Philadelphia will once again include the wildly popular fireworks shows at both 6 p.m. and midnight in “Sugarhouse Casino Presents Twice the Fireworks, Twice the Fun!”.
Philadelphia’s main attraction on New Year’s Eve, choreographed to a unique soundtrack made specially for the show, draws thousands of people to the Delaware River Waterfront every year.
Conveniently located within a few blocks of Old City, Society Hill and South Street, Penn’s Landing becomes a festive party with revelers of all ages delighting in a breathtaking fireworks display, as does the Camden Waterfront across the river. Check out Visit Philly for a few suggestions on best places to watch.
Take in the 6 p.m. show and spend the rest of your night out on the town, or enjoy a special dinner in the evening and conclude your night with the traditional midnight showing.
New Year’s Week in Philadelphia: And with New Year’s Eve on a Saturday night this year, it’s the perfect opportunity to make an entire New Year’s Week celebration in Philadelphia out of it, from December 26 to January 2. For those who want to get a head start on planning their holiday, Visit Philly has a guide to New Year’s parties.
On a related note, Sugarhouse Casino is also sponsoring the Mummer’s Parade this year, a huge coup for the annual iconic Philadelphia New Year’s Day tradition. The parade features 10,000 men and women dressed in colorfully lavish costumes twirling, sashaying and strutting up Broad Street.
New Year’s doesn’t get better than in Philadelphia, with two free fireworks shows, an unforgettably wild New Year’s Day ritual, the 2012 NHL Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park on January 2 and, this year, an entire week’s worth of fun in the city, from blockbuster theater shows to major museum exhibitions, huge retail sales and more.
We’ll be providing you with the latest updates on New Year’s in Philadelphia as the week approaches, including a guide to best places to watch the fireworks, plus alternative ways to celebrate the holidays. Don’t go anywhere!
