Roundup: Our Top Picks For New Year’s Eve Dining In Philadelphia

Ring in the New Year at Philadelphia’s top restaurants with dinner specials, festive celebrations and champagne toasts at midnight. Nineteen, Morimoto, R2L and Balcony Restaurant all make for excellent options.

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching and one of the trickiest pieces every year can be figuring out what to do. A great meal is always a solid idea. And Philadelphia’s restaurants are ready to deliver.

Raise your glass and celebrate the New Year at one of the city’s amazing restaurants, many of which are offering great prix-fixe menus, complimentary champagne toasts, special festivities or possibly even all of the above.

Morimoto: Dinner is served from 5 p.m.-midnight. Iron Chef Morimoto will dish up the regular a la carte menu with specials, with an optional $120 Omakase menu, $65 deluxe wine pairing and champagne toast at midnight.

Barbuzzo: A special five-course menu will be offered for $75 per person, not including tax or gratuity.

Chifa: Choose from one of two four-course tasting menus created by Chef Jose Garces and Chef de Cuisine Natalie Maronski from 5 p.m. until midnight. Head to the bar for a la carte service with dishes drawn from the tasting menus. ($60 or $75 per person)

Talula’s Garden: See and be seen at one of the city’s newest restaurants as Talula’s Garden offers their regular seasonal menu (all fresh and local) along with a special six-course tasting menu.

10 Arts: Begin your New Year’s celebration with breakfast at 10 Arts from 7 a.m.–noon. Come back for a special New Year’s Eve dinner that includes a champagne toast at midnight. ($175 per person)

Nineteen: Celebrate New Year’s on the 19th floor of the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue with Nineteen’s four-course dinner. ($95 per person)

Oyster House: Head over to the Oyster House for a four-course meal including roasted oysters with caviar, seared scallops with parsnip-brown butter puree and grilled filet mignon with warm mushroom and bacon salad. Then toast to the New Year with complimentary champagne at 12 midnight. ($55 per person)

R2L: Boasting some of the most stunning views of the city, R2L is hosting a New Year’s Eve Penthouse Party with special hors d’oeuvres by Chef Daniel Stern, live music, dancing and more. ($150 per person)

Square 1682: Executive Chef Guillermo Tellez is ringing in 2012 in style at Square 1682 in the Hotel Palomar. Choose from an early seating at 6 p.m. ($65 per person) or later seating at 9 p.m. ($95 per person) featuring live music, dancing, drinks and more in the Burnham Ballroom.

Ela: Chefs Jason Cichonski and Chip Roman are hosting a pair of prix fixe menus at their new Queen Village hotspot. Choose a three-course or four-course menu highlighting hyper-creative, hyper-seasonal dishes. ($60 or $75 per person; optional wine pairing available for $20 or $25 per person).

Moshulu: You’ll have an up-close view of the fireworks as you dine aboard the Moshulu during a special New Year’s Eve celebration with a four-course prix fixe menu from 4–7 p.m. or a later seating from 7:15–10:30 p.m. ($100 or $150 per person)

Zahav: Chef Michael Solomonov has created a lavish four-course meal that includes spicy beef cheeks, fluke crudo with labaneh and caviar and chocolate-hazelnut babka with orange-vanilla ice cream. ($65 per person; optional beverage pairing for $35 per person)

Sbraga: Top Chef Kevin Sbraga’s new restaurant will be serving the regular menu with a special complimentary glass of champagne for guests to toast at midnight.

Village Belle: Get a spectacular view of the New Year’s Eve fireworks at Penn’s and a delicious four-course meal featuring lobster bisque, strip steak and cheesecake spring rolls with raspberry sauce. Choose from two seatings: 6 p.m. ($75 per person) and 9 p.m. ($125 per person). An open bar package is available for $50 per person.

Supper: This New Years Eve, Executive Chef Mitch Prensky will be serving a special four or five course dinner, with two to three options for each. Choose from four courses for $82 per person or five for $88.
