The Flyers To Host Public Skating Sessions On The Outdoor Ice Rink At Citizens Bank Park As Part Of Winter Classic Week

Talk about an awesome opportunity... The Flyers are hosting seven public skating sessions on the Winter Classic Ice Rink at Citizens Bank Park on January 3 & 7! (Photo courtesy the Flyers)

We were holding out hope this was going to happen. And now it is.

As part of Winter Classic Week at Citizens Bank Park, the Flyers will be hosting public skating sessions on the outdoor ice rink at the ballpark. Talk about a very unique and very cool opportunity — you now have the chance to skate on the same ice that the Flyers and the Rangers will be battling on just days before… The same ice that’s located outside, under the elements, but on the playing field at Citizens Bank Park. Sounds pretty awesome.

The public skating sessions are an hour long. So far there are seven sessions scheduled: five on Saturday, January 7 and two more on Tuesday, January 3 — the day after the 2012 Winter Classic is played.

Tickets are $60 for adults, $50 for children and $10 for a non-skating spectator pass. Tickets are on sale now on online. Tip: act quickly; the first four sessions on Saturday, January 7 reportedly sold out in less than a day.

The public ice skating session times:

Tuesday, January 3: 1) 7-8 p.m.* ; 2) 8:15-9:15 p.m.*

Saturday, January 7: 3) 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.; 4) 11-12 a.m.; 5) 6:30-7:30 p.m.; 6) 7:45-8:45 p.m.; 7) 9:15-10:15 p.m.*

Note: The three sessions with asterisks above were added after the initial four sessions sold out quickly, so on the session purchase page we recommend attempting to buy tickets to those sessions first.

A few additional details below.

Tickets will allow you access to the outdoor ice rink located at Citizens Bank Park for a public skating session at your designated time. Children under the age of two years old do not need a ticket. Bring your own skates. Skate rentals will NOT be available on site. Free parking will be available in Lot P located at the corner of Darien Street and Pattison Avenue. Concessions will be available. No outside food or drink will be allowed in the building. Non-skaters will be allowed around the perimeter of the rink and pictures are permitted.
