• Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol opens at the Franklin Institute’s IMAX Theater: The latest Mission Impossible installment opens at the Franklin Institute’s Tuttleman IMAX Theater tonight, a full six days before the film’s nationwide release on December 21… plus, it’s the only place in Philadelphia to see the six-minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises. Buy tickets now.

• Philadelphia Orchestra’s “The Glorious Sound of Christmas” Opening Night: The Philadelphia Orchestra will lend its lush sound to timeless holiday classics and carols. Named for the group’s best-selling Christmas album, “The Glorious Sound of Christmas” concerts are a long-standing Philadelphia tradition.

• Foie Gras Tasting Menu at Meritage: Chef Anne Coll has been busy in the kitchen. She’s dishing up a Foie Gras Tasting Menu, five courses of delicious goodness for just $39.

• Holiday Textile Workshop at Art in the Age: Attendees will have the opportunity to screenprint fabric with seasonal archival patterns, selected by Sarah Moore, curator of the Design Center at Philadelphia University’s Historic Textile Collection. The screenprinted fabric will then be sewn into festive holiday stockings, perfect to hang on your tree or over the fireplace!

• “HyLo” Holidays Party: Join local design collective HyLo Boutiques at their high-end holiday fête tonight. Called “Treat Your Senses,” the affair features more than ten hyperlocal vendors and something to satisfy all five senses. You’ll be able to enjoy all of Philly’s best locally produced holiday delights, from custom chocolates to SNAP liqueur to locally crafted jewelry.
