In the wake of the 2012 NHL Winter Classic hosted at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park comes a boost to our esteem despite the Flyers’ narrow loss to the Rangers.

Check out the NHL Commissioner’s response to a question, posed during his post-game press conference, about how Philadelphia was as a game host:

“It was spectacular. We could not have asked for any more from the event…. [A]nd just the entire reception in the city, the buzz throughout the city, and the crowd today was great. This was just a terrific event for us, and we are grateful to everybody who was involved, particularly and including the City of Philadelphia.”

The next best thing to a victory is such high praise from the Commissioner himself. We’ll take it.
