The Arden Theatre Company just made First Fridays in Old City, a monthly open house for galleries and shops, even more fun.
The theater will now host performances as part of the neighborhood’s First Friday activities. On the First Friday evening of each month, the company will select a Philadelphia performing arts group or artist to present short, free performances to the public.
Events take place from 6-8 p.m. in the Arden’s Independence Foundation Studio and Lobby. Bonus: free beer is included.
The artists currently scheduled to perform are:
• Friday, March 2: The N Crowd. Taking suggestions from the audience, the N Crowd will create comedic short form improvisations.
• Friday, April 6: Tell Me a Story. Local storytellers and comedians reveal true stories based on a theme. Secrets are spilled, confessions blurted and memories shared. One lucky audience member becomes the Wild Card Storyteller, who will tell a tale connected to the evening’s theme.
• Friday, May 4: Berserker Residents. Dedicated to original works of alternative comedy with a pop-comic aesthetic, the Berserker Residents will present a work-in-progress showing of their latest piece.
On a related note, you can still nab tickets to the Arden’s Clybourne Park, on stage through March 25.
