In true Irish fashion, Fado is starting up the St. Patty’s day celebration a wee bit early with the Great Guinness Toast and Pour, a chance for one lucky wordsmith to find gold by winning a pint a day for a year (My Goodness, My Guinness!) on Friday, February 17 at 7 p.m.

Submit your original toast to Guinness by noon on Wednesday, February 15 to mcoulter@fadoirishpub.com or in person at the pub for entry into the contest where four finalists will be chosen to share their words at the pour on Friday.

Here are a few facts about Guinness to help you prepare and unleash the Brian Flanagan within you.

• Guinness is actually ruby red in color and not black
• A pint contains 120 calories
• Guinness is always served between 39-42 degrees
• Guinness is brewed in more than 150 countries
• Fado’s kegs come straight from St. James’ Gate in Dublin

Besides hearing some entertaining tributes to the popular Irish dry stout, Guinness lovers can step up to the taps and have a shot at pouring the perfect pint which takes 1 minute and 19 seconds to complete.

May the best bard win!
