We’re approaching spring festival season, and one of the first, and most fun, is the annual Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia, which kicks off March 23.
A lively four-week spring celebration of Japanese culture, the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival honors the fleeting splendor of the sakura (Japanese Cherry Trees).
Festivities throughout the festival include: ceremonial drumming, martial arts exhibitions, a traditional tea ceremony, fashion show, origami demonstrations, and sushi-making classes.
The Blossom Bash, the opening celebration of the festival, is a black-tie optional affair which will be held at the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt at the Bellevue on Friday, March 23m including a first-ever Young Friends Cocktail Reception. Get tickets online.
The centerpiece of the festival is Sakura Sunday, held this year on April 15 in Fairmount Park, a day under the blossoms full of spectacular sights and performances.
