It’s the Phillies’ Opening Night at Citizens Bank Park, and SEPTA, the easiest way to get to the ballpark, is making transportation even easier.
SEPTA will host a “Phillies Express” train tonight, taking the Phillie Phanatic and Phillies fans to the game aboard the convenient Broad Street Line straight to the Sports Complex.
In fact, in 2011, fans made 7,400 daily trips on the Broad Street Line for Phillies games.
The celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. this evening on the concourse of the Walnut-Locust Station in Center City, where fans will be given rally towels and other Phillies giveaways, plus SEPTA chocolate tokens.
Then at 5 p.m., a few lucky fans will be invited to join the Phanatic and other special guests for a ride on the Broad Street Line’s specially decorated “Phillies Express” Train all the way to AT&T Station.
Bonus: fans 15 and older attending tonight’s Phillies-Marlins game will also receive a Phillies Opening Night “Represent” T-Shirt, compliments of McDonald’s.
You are encouraged to purchase tokens ahead of time and have passes or fares ready ahead of time to board the “Phillies Express” at Walnut-Locust Station.
Don’t have a ticket to the game? Just veer right off the subway stop and spend the night at Xfinity Live. There’s a 32-foot diagonal, 6mm, million dollar Sony LED HD television; plenty of food options from fine dining to beer and brats; and live bands.
And, no matter where you’re watching from tonight, it goes without saying, GO PHILLIES!
